The vineyards, the winery
tasting the wines of the most ancient tradition.
The wine tour at Tenuta Cucco is a small journey in the vineyards, ancient hamlets and the secrets of the wineries of the Langhe wine region. It begins by the historical vineyard where we cultivate our best grapes, suitable for great ageing wines. Vigna Cucco, just next to the winery, gives the name to the company and is an iconic vineyard in Serralunga. It is mentioned in the Renato Ratti historical Barolo map and is located in the “additional geographical mention” Cerrati, a cru only commercialised by our company. Its peculiarity resides in the height of its vines, approximately 400 metres a.s.l., positioned where clay and tuff are present at maximum concentration and in the superficial area of the soil conferring the grapes with distinctive abundance of tannins and polyphenols.
From Vigna Cucco we can admire the eastern boundaries of the Barolo region, a suggestive sequence of inclined vineyards and ancient towers.
The tour continues in the centre of Serralunga d’Alba, few hundred metres away, visiting the church of San Sebastiano nel Borgo now deconsecrated and part of the estate. It has remained just as it was when built in the XVII century, with its frescoes now represented in the labels of the wines of Tenuta Cucco.
The wine tour of Tenuta Cucco ends in the winery, particularly in one of its magical places: the XIX century Infernot where we carefully store the old vintages of our Barolo and a collection of ancient agricultural and wine-making tools.
The tastings of our wines are all paired with local products, particularly seasoned hams and salami and they take place in our elegant hall with a view over the castle of Serralunga d’Alba.
According to the typology of tasting, the cost varies from 18 to 35 euro. It is possible, together with the wine tasting, to book your stay in Casa Cucco, the four people apartment adjacent to the old church of San Sebastiano nel Borgo.
