The church of the estate and its frescoes<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

The church of San Sebastiano nel Borgo, at the center of\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>Serralunga d’Alba<\/span><\/span><\/a> , is part of Tenuta Cucco. Musical cherubs, elegantly clad Savoy nobles like Amadeus IX, Duke of Savoy, saints, Adam and Eve banished from the earthly paradise: these are just some of the subjects that can still be recognized on the lateral walls, the vaulted ceilings and in the choir zone, painted by various artists during different time periods.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Some of these images have become the protagonists of the new labels of\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>labels of Tenuta Cucco<\/span><\/span><\/a> , as ambassadors of our unique history and traditions.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

San Sebastiano was already considered \u201cold\u201d in documents dating back to 1550, and until 1888 it was the parish church of the town, while its annexes (now Casa Cucco) contained the local schoolhouse until the mid-1950s.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

It was reconstructed in the 1600s over the foundations of the medieval structure (with the main door and the altar at opposite ends with respect to the present layout) and restored from 1886 to 1888. The church has simple, understated lines, far from the Baroque style of the mid-1600s. Inside, the space is organized as a single hall with four altars inserted in deep compartments. The church can be visited upon request.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Recently, San Sebastiano has become a space for exhibitions of contemporary art organized by\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>Fondazione La Raia<\/span><\/span><\/a> \u00a0\u2013 art culture territory, created in 2013 by the Rossi Cairo family. In July 2019 the facility hosted \u201cBIOMEGA Multiverso,\u201d a site-specific exhibition by Cosimo Veneziano curated by Ilaria Bonacossa.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
