Welcome to Tenuta Cucco, a small winery in the heart of Serralunga d’Alba, which grew around the historical Vigna Cucco vineyard, where the Rossi Cairo family produces Nebbiolo for Barolo with a winemaking project dedicated to quality with particular esteem for the terroir and the environment. Four Barolo labels and two crus – Cerrati and Bricco Voghera – for which we use hand-picking in crates, parcel by parcel, large barrels for ageing and all the time required, according to tradition.

The estate

Arriving at Tenuta Cucco, visitors are greeted by the surprise of a small hamlet, nestled in one of the most fascinating villages in the Langhe: Serralunga d’Alba. The estate lies at the roots of the imposing medieval castle, which offers breathtaking views over the Langhe hills of Alba, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Terroir

Let’s look down at the Barolo map. We head southeast, and there’s Serralunga d’Alba: its unmistakable castle, the town clustered around the keep, and the perfect circles of vineyards reaching right up to the front doors. Here lies the small village of Cucco and its Cerrati cru, the last outpost of Barolo to the east.

Our wines

A journey through the Langhe region, around a table overlooking Monviso. Here are Tenuta Cucco’s offerings: from classic Nebbiolos to savory Barberas, Dolcetto and Langhe Nebbiolo, all the way to the full-bodied Barolos, as is traditional in Serralunga d’Alba. With a surprise: a Chardonnay, an international varietal, which we age in wood.

The crus

Tenuta Cucco’s crus, Cerrati and Bricco Voghera, are both located on the eastern slopes of the broad Serralunga d’Alba ridge. They have different exposures and, more importantly, are rooted in different soils. Let’s explore them.
