The wines

A voyage in the Langhe around a table with a view of Mount Monviso. These are the offerings of Tenuta Cucco: from classic Nebbiolo to hearty Barbera, from Dolcetto to Langhe Nebbiolo, all the way to Barolo with its remarkable structure, as in the tradition of Serralunga d’Alba. With a surprise: a Chardonnay, an international variety, which we age in wooden barrels.

Our approach

Our work in the cellar is a tribute to preserving the varietal characteristics of the Nebbiolo from the Langhe. Over the years, we have found that our grapes express themselves best through the use of large Austrian oak barrels — a method we have consciously chosen, fully aware that it usually requires longer ageing times.

La Varietà

Our collection is a journey to the land of Langa.

The story of Tenuta Cucco’s wines began sixty years ago with the construction of the winery, but even earlier, when the Barolo of Serralunga first showed the world its qualities: grapes from Vigna Cucco were selected and purchased by many local producers to blend and create some of the most prestigious Barolos.

In 1967 Tenuta Cucco released its first Barolo Serralunga d’Alba, Vigna Cucco was launched in 1986, Cerrati in 1996, and since 2017 Barolo Bricco Voghera has been in production.

Our approach in the cellar is a tribute to preserving the varietal characteristics of Nebbiolo from the Langhe. Over the years we have seen that our grapes express themselves best through the use oflarge Austrian oak barrels: a method we chose, fully aware that it requires longer processing times.

The Barolo D.O.C.G. of the Comune of Serralunga d’Alba, obtained from a vintage-by vintage selection of the different parcels of Bricco Voghera, Cerrati and Gianetto, is aged for two years in large barrels and about two years in bottle – the time we consider ideal and necessary before release. From the 2020 vintage, part of the wine is fermented and aged in oak vats. The Barolo D.O.C.G. Cerrati, a 4.5-hectare cru exclusively claimed by Tenuta Cucco, matures for about 30 months in Slavonian oak casks.

The Barolo D.O.C.G. Bricco Voghera comes from a vineyard of about 2.5 hectares at the entrance of Serralunga and is refined like the Cerrati. The Barolo D.O.C.G. Cerrati Vigna Cucco Riserva is produced only in the finest vintages, from the Vigna Cucco parcel at the hilltop, and holds an ancient winemaking history.

Alongside Barolo, Tenuta Cucco also produces Langhe Chardonnay, Langhe Nebbiolo, Barbera d’Alba Superiore and, since the 2023 harvest, a Langhe Rosato called Il Rosa.

Production is overseen by Clara Milani, also responsible for La Raia, with the consultancy of oenologist Piero Ballario. In total, the winery produces about 70,000 bottles per year.

I cru

Tenuta Cucco’s crus, Cerrati and Bricco Voghera, are both located on the eastern slopes of the broad Serralunga d’Alba ridge. They have different exposures and, more importantly, are rooted in different soils. Let’s explore them.

Wine Tour

The Tenuta Cucco Wine Tour is a brief journey through vineyards, historic townships, and the secrets of the renowned cellar. It begins at the historic vineyard that produced the finest Nebbiolo grapes: Vigna Cucco which lends its name to the company and is the symbol of Serralunga.
